Jon Kedrowski

Jonathan James Kedrowski (born May 12, 1979) is an author, speaker, ski-mountaineer and geographer. Kedrowski is best known for his many mountaineering accomplishments and ski descents: most notably, in 2011, when he became the first person to summit, camp and spend the night on top of all Colorado's 55 Fourteener's. In May 2012, Kedrowski successfully climbed Mount Everest while witnessing and surviving the worst tragedy on Everest since the 1996 disaster.
==Background==
Jonathan James Kedrowski is the son of Robert Allan Kedrowski and Barbara Jean Kedrowski and was born and raised in Vail, Colorado. He climbed the 58 highest named mountains in Colorado, known as 14ers (peaks over 14,000') before he turned 18.〔https://www.cmc.org/Portals/0/GoverningDocs/14ers%20Master_Nov2012.pdf〕 After graduating from Eagle Valley High School, Gypsum, Colorado in 1998, he entered Valparaiso University, played intercollegiate basketball and earned a Bachelor of Arts in geography and chemistry (pre-medicine) in May 2002. After a year in the medical field at Steadman-Hawkins Sport Medicine Clinic in Vail, he returned to academics at the University of South Florida's Department of Geography in January 2004, graduating in May 2006 with a Masters of Arts in Environmental Geography and a Secondary Education Social Science Education Teaching degree. During his time at USF, Kedrowski was the Head Varsity Boys Basketball Coach at the Berean Christian Academy in Tampa, Florida for three years taking his teams from 1-14 season to 12-6 record and district regional appearance in his third season as coach. He was also a Head Coach at Corvallis High School in 2006-2007. 〔http://missoulian.com/news/local/fan-banned-for-one-year-after-incident-in-corvallis/article_0480faa2-0d8a-50e1-bd0d-50be4abdece6.html〕
In August 2007, Kedrowski became a Graduate Teaching Assistant in the graduate Department of Geography at Texas State University, San Marcos. His Ph.D. in Environmental Geography with a Mountain Emphasis in Physical Geography was completed in December 2010. The dissertation was a product of spending 2008 and 2009 working at Mount Rainier National Park assisting with the management of the climbing permit system. His work and data helped NPS change the permit fees for climbing Mount Rainier from $30 per season to $43 per season in 2011 and increased by another $1 to $44 in 2013. 〔http://www.nps.gov/mora/parknews/2013-climbing-fee-increase.htm〕 From 2010-2012, Kedrowski accepted an Assistant Professor position in the Department of Geography at Central Washington University
In 2010, Kedrowski completed a consulting project with ''National Geographic'' for a movie titled ''The Wildest Dream'' involving Mount Everest.〔http://images.nationalgeographic.com/wpf/media-content/file/TWD_educ_Overview_final-cb1279128334.pdf〕
